Hi Matt! If you consider the wildness, rawness, character-fullness of VCOs and compare on a scale from zero = a modern analog polysynth (where you said that they are almost too tame) to 10 = the E7, where would you put the VCOs of Nina? I'm asking because I really like the raw sound of the E7 but also the user interface of the NINA (especially tweaking a multitimbral patch that is sequenced) and its sound, but I would like to get a polysynth that sounds wild enough off the shelf. For context, I have a Novation Summit, and yes, you can try to coax some wildness out of it with drift, detune etc. but I don't find it inspiring. In contrast I got a Dreadbox Nymphes, which I love the sound of (also very characterful VCOs off the shelf), but the user experience is, unfortunately, terrible. How redundant are the E7 and Nina for you? Elsewhere you said E7 is more for lush sounds, not e.g., plucky sounds, and Nina does that better? How do you use the two? Thanks so much!

I'm not a keyboard player at all, but this kind of video is so useful for all musicians. So little attention is devoted to rhythmic articulation and how it can affect the feel of a track, but you provide great examples that help all of us grasp what we're hearing.

I bought my Minimoog Voyager Electric Blue in May 2005. One of its presets was labeled “Bow Wow Bass”. It was more or less the equal of the patch you dialed up here, Matt. I only wish I hadn’t gone El Cheapo when it came to getting a dust cover for it; it’s become dust logged and, as such, unplayable. I’m probably not the first to ask this question, but what date was your Model D assembled, Matt? I’m asking because of the variations in the tint of its keys.

Rhythm is probably my strongest feature on keyboards, bc i played drums for a long time before picking up keys during covid. These are fun!

A great synth with a great sound though as a monophonic, synth priced at around £4500 it’ll sadly remain out of reach for most. Similarly priced to the polyphonic, multi function Nord Stage (which too is very expensive)
